About Us
Behind the Name, "The Lanterns":
Matthew 5:14-16 ~ "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
We are a singer-songwriter duo based out of southern Alabama. My wife and I met online and courted long distance - Robby in Texas and Leah in Alabama - for two years and by the grace of God, we tied the knot in June of 2014.

What drew us together was our love for Jesus Christ, serving His people, and reaching out to those who have lost all hope in life. Another important factor was our love for writing music and wanting to lead others to Christ through song. We are both born-again Christians who desire to spend the remainder of our lives in devotion to Jesus our Savior by striving to master the art and craft of songwriting and changing the world around us, one act of love and song at a time.

As a duo, we share the load of both writing the lyrics and melodies. We balance each other out - where one is weak, the other is strong. We believe and have been told that our blended voices and harmonies are what make us stand out and unique.

We both play instruments, sing and have a musical background. Leah has had choral experience, as well as vocal coaching. She plays guitar and has been compared vocally to artists, such as Joy Williams from the Civil Wars, Marketa Irgloba from the Swell Season, and Allison Krauss. Her style is a blend of Christian Folk and Pop. As well, Robby has a diverse background in music.
He's a third-generation drummer with abilities on piano, harmonica, acoustic/electric guitars, as well as singing melody and harmony vocals. I've performed with school and college bands, as well as symphony orchestras. I went to school at East Texas Baptist University where I studied Music Education and achieved my BA degree. Since then, I've been making tents (like Paul), pursuing, praying and waiting for doors to open musically. It has been a long journey, but it has been rewarding.

Our first professionally recorded album was done in June of 2016 and released in September that same year, called "Merciful New".

We recently joined an organization called "Nashville Christian Songwriters" and are currently being coached by John Chisum, formerly with Integrity Publishing and Rob Carona who is a talented singer-songwriter and songwriting teacher in the Nashville, TN area. We have gone through an intensive, 8-week songwriting bootcamp and a weekend intensive within the last year and have made major strides in learning the art and craft of songwriting.

Our current goal is to record a second album in 2019 with former Integrity Music producer Chris Springer of Mobile University. Our end-goal is to be a full-time, traveling music ministry with commercial songwriting on the side.
